You'll be able to compare for yourself how the stories are similar and different. Make sure you check out the other Grimm tales--they are delightfully funny! And the version of the "Little Mermaid" that you should check out is the one by Hans Christian Anderson. While I couldn't find the complete text online, here's a good summary.
